Version 2.0.5
Executive summary
The latest release of Provar version 2.0.5 is now available in the Provar Success Portal.
It’s important to acknowledge the global impact of COVID-19. Our team, like many others worldwide, has worked hard to adapt quickly in order to maintain business continuity and help our customers protect the stability of their Salesforce platforms. To help you navigate the complexities of this unprecedented time, we are intentionally reducing the amount of change that is introduced with this release to focus instead on performance and security.
In general, this maintenance release is designed to:
- Enhance the security of your information
- Improve system performance
- Optimize the foundation of our testing platform to prepare for upcoming Salesforce releases

Chrome 81 compatibility
As part of our pre-release testing due diligence, we are happy to announce that Chrome 81 and ChromeDriver 81 are compatible with Provar version 2.0.5.
Who does this impact?
Provar customers who are currently using or would like to upgrade to Chrome 81.
Why is this important?
Ensuring that ChromeDriver 81 is compatible with Provar version 2.0.5 eliminates the risk of incompatibility issues which can prevent Provar from working as expected.
How can I use this feature?
If you would like to upgrade to Chrome 81 and use Provar version 2.0.5, you will need to use ChromeDriver 80 or 81.
Note: ChromeDriver 80 is packaged together with Provar version 2.0.5. If you would like to use ChromeDriver 81, you can refer to this support article that explains how to use a ChromeDriver that is different from the one provided by default in your Provar installation. Provar will automatically attempt to download and install ChromeDriver 81 if it detects a driver exception.
What are the browser and driver combinations that you recommend using Provar 2.0.5 via Chrome?
Test Builder: Content Assist for Displayed Row Count and Total Count Row fields
When adding a test step to assert attributes of a table, you can now use Content Assist functionality for the Displayed Row Count and Total Row Count fields in Test Builder.
Who does this impact?
Test Builder users creating and managing test cases that assert table attributes.
Why is this important?
This enhancement makes a feature available in Test Builder that was previously only available in Provar Desktop.
How can I use this feature?
When asserting attributes of a table within the Test Builder, you can use Content Assist for the Displayed Row Count and Total Row Count fields. This will allow you to use functions on these fields from within Test Builder, for example a Count function.
Content Assist is a built-in shortcut that is designed to help you avoid making syntax errors. With Content Assist, Provar populates options for expressions and calculations (via a drop-down menu) that you can select and customize. You can use Content Assist by clicking the Expression Editor icon or select command + Space using a Mac or Ctrl + Space using a computer with a Windows operating system.

Test Builder: Performance improvement
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve performance, you can now map fields much more quickly in Test Builder. We recently completed a time study to compare the performance of 2.0.5 with prior versions and are pleased to share these results:
- 68% decrease in the time required to map fields in standard Lightning apps
- 70% decrease in the time required to map fields in Lightning console apps
- 52% decrease in the time required to map fields for Quick Actions
- 76% decrease in the time required to map fields for Aura Components
Who does this impact?
Test Builder users creating test cases.
Why is this important?
As a result of this enhancement, you can now build tests much more quickly.
How can I use this feature?
With Provar version 2.0.5, this is now standard functionality available for all customers enterprise-wide. You do not need to make any adjustments within Provar.
Test Plan integration with Zephyr (Upcoming beta)
We are working on some exciting enhancements for Test Plans to support integration with Zephyr. This will be made available in a beta version in the near future. If you are interested in receiving the beta, please contact us at [email protected].
